Mortgage Brokers and Intermediaries:
The help a Mortgage Broker / Intermediary can provide (and that includes us!)

Mortgage Brokers, also referred to as Mortgage Intermediaries, act as specialist middlemen between those who wish to borrow, and those who want to lend to them!

Here we take a look at Mortgage Brokers / Mortgage Intermediaries and their role when it comes to finding a mortgage, together with the benefits of using a Mortgage Broker as well as things you may want to look out for. Additionally, being UK based specialist Mortgage Brokers ourselves, we thought it might be useful to let you know of the Mortgage and Remortgage help we can provide!

What is a Mortgage Broker?

Mortgage Brokers (also known as Mortgage Intermediaries) serve as the middlemen between a Mortgage Lender and the borrower.

The benefits of using a Mortgage Broker

There are many advantages of using a mortgage broker like Shire Direct when it comes to finding a mortgage, and these usually include:

  • Access to a wide range of Mortgage Lenders to choose from
  • Specialist knowledge of lenders within the market place
  • Exclusive products which may not be available direct from the lender
  • Ability to source mortgage lenders where the borrower may have credit difficulties or unusual circumstances
  • Access to special schemes that are not available on the high street
  • Personal and attentive service

Things to consider when using Mortgage Brokers

But do take care when choosing your Mortgage Broker! Some Mortgage Brokers (although not us!) are tied just to one lender, and therefore you may well find that the products offered by them have only limited features that may not fit the bill as far as your needs and requirements are concerned.

You should always check to see whether the broker is prepared to provide you with advice and a recommendation like we do here at Shire Direct. Some Mortgage Brokers merely provide information - you're then on your own! Mortgage Brokers providing non-advised sales, or information only packages, are not permitted to provide you with advice or a recommended product.

So Shire Direct are Mortgage Brokers, how can you help me?
