'Just what is that dalmatian dog all about?' we hear you asking! And you wouldn't be the first person to ask the question, in fact it's one of the most commonly asked questions we receive here at Shire Direct, so we thought it was about time to put it on record and solve the mystery once and for all.
So, as you'll have no doubt realised by now, our company logo is a Dalmatian (as opposed to a Dalmation). We chose a dalmatian as our new corporate logo back in the mid 1990's as we think this breed of dog eptimosises much of what our firm is about, and the dog we have used for the last few years is the beautiful Teasle, one of the finest looking Dalmatian dogs we have come across.
You see Dalmatians are characteristically people orientated, devoted and friendly. They are extremely loyal, and make excellent family friends. They have boundless energy and stamina, and are highly intelligent and creative. The Dalmatian is exuberant, vibrant, smart, and thinks independently. They have generous personalities, are both reliable and dependable friends, and are pleasant to be with!
Dalmatians do well with consistent training and just like our Managing Director - they need a low protein diet, and can be very affectionate! (Note from Marketing Manager: Hmmm, who writes this stuff?!!).
So there you have it, the "Dallie" was chosen because many of its characteristics coincided with our company ethos:
We think Teasle is a very eye-catching Dalmatian, being both pleasing and attractive, and she looks good on our marketing material. Over the years, she has given rise to some pretty awful puns wihtin the company's marketing literature, such as

Hopefully Teasle suggests an air of kindness, caring and friendliness all at the same time. We love her, and we hope you like her too!
